A note from Linda~Artist, Designer

"I love birch trees. Love. This sculptural enameled piece reflects my love of the cerulean blue sky seen through black and white birch tree trunks.

There are probably about 20 firings involved in a piece this size and of this complexity. Maybe you know, but each time you have to fire an enamel piece you have to counter fire (on the back) so the piece doesn't warp. Tricky, let me tell you!

The brilliant blue sky was done first, then the tree trunks in white enamel, with hand painting in black, using a tiny japanese watercolor brush, to give the tree trunks their fabulous birch tree black and white patterns. The small imperfections in the enamel surface just add to the handmade feeling.

Once I finished the piece, I trimmed out the two corners with handmade copper birch leaves in clusters. They have patina applied, and will turn a lovely greenish blue over time, as copper does. Some of them move, some are fixed. I used illustrations of real birch leaves as my patterns.

This piece measures 6" wide by 9" tall.
It comes with a black iron easel for display. Pics coming of the easel. I was so excited to list this piece, another one I had a hard time parting with, but it needs a good home."

Please take a moment and browse Linda's shop.

Linda's work is breathtaking!
